Honor View 20 Unboxing Mini Review

Honor View 20 Short Unboxing Review

As been a year since the launch of Honor View 10 which it’s a flagship model for Honor 2018. In 2019 the birth of the Honor View 20 its here finally. Its claims to carry world 1st 48MP AI Camera and a punch hole display.  manage to get myself a set to do a mini unboxing review based on the 256GB 8GB ROM variant.

1st we start off with the

-Design:
New punch hole display with just a 4.5mm circle replacing from previous notch display which reduce the blocking of view from some parts of the screen. A new back finished coating (Aurora Design) which sits on the glass layer. From some parts its seems like a arrow pointing downwards from different light angles when we look at it. On the top of Honor View 20 we are able to see a 3.5mm Audio Jack and a IR Blaster which allow you to act like a universal remote.

-Processor +UI:
As we can see its running on Android 9.0 with the new Magic UI 2.0 which its normally found only on China Honor Magic Series models. Its carries a AI deep leaning and concise UI interface. To what i know in china theres a AI voice assistance called YoYo but seems like its not supported in Global Rom, quite sad as we unable to test this out.
Also its using Kirin 980 which its now currently only used on Huawei Mate 20 Series which it’s one of the flagship of Huawei.
Also it equipped with Turbo GPU 2.0 which enhancing performance and optimizing the gaming experience and a internal liquid cooling system. Just a recall the Turbo GPU 1.0 function  its 1st introduced on the Honor Play to provides a dramatic increase in graphics processing power, and boosts average frame rate to the fullest possible rateAttached its a Antutu Benchmark test for reference. Quite a decent score.

-Display:
Honor View 20 comes with a 6.4inch LCD screen with resolution of 1080x2310. Its almost bezel-less design with impressive of 91.8 percent screen to body ratio.Color wise as compare to my current Huawei Mate 20 pro its still not as vivid as its more towards natural color but for the price different it still acceptable to me. For sharpness i feel its just as good as the OLED. For the punch hole as compare to the notch at 1st , I feel abit uneasy as if unsupported app there will still be a black off line bar.  but after a while I get used to it and I think that its just nice as when playing games which its optimized in full screen, I only see a slight covering spot as compare to the notch design previously which blocks more areas of vision. I think more apps will be supporting full screen soon.

-Camera:
In there statement honor said that its there 1st world 48MP AI Camera which had a IMX586 sony sensor which capable of providing Ultra Clarity photo (It so call merge many shots in seconds to provide high megapixel details of the photo). Beside that it comes with a TOF 3D camera which depth Sensing and AR capabilities like skeletal tracking. It does not have wide angle or zooming lens as compare to the Mate 20 series. The camera also supports Auto AI scene mode which makes easier taking on photos without professional skill.
Attached with some picture sample of Honor View 20 on auto AI scene mode.
It tends to give more natural colors image as compared to mate 20 pro.
Last i attached a photo using my own Mate 20 pro at night mode, looks like the night shot its slightly dimmer on View 20 compared to Mate 20 pro. But heard there's still future updates to improve on it.

The camera also come with a new 3D shaping which separate background and the multi retouch levels in any situation.
Here I had done a test of AR gaming which use the TOF 3D camera. I tested on the Skating and Darktgames and its quite fun and easy. Just put the rear of the phone facing you using a HDMI ADAPTER to connect it to any display under desktop mode and run the program. Its quite fun to play around with. But i really hope that they can also include a software similar to the Mate 20 Pro 3D live maker in future which I think its easier to make on object using the rear camera as compare to the front camera.
Current known TOF 3D Camera supported Games
-Fancy Dart
-ARbodyskiing
-Dance Era (劲舞时代)

-Battery + Connectivity
Honor View 20 carries a 4,000mAh battery and  Super charging capabilities of 4.5V/5A(22.5W) which charged up to 50% in 30minutes. I had test its for few days from full charge till now I still left with 15% in around 5 days of normal usage. I made a try one the battery when full charged, tired using for 1hr15min of movie playback + 30min of gaming + 30min of surfing estimated around usage of 15% of battery. (Maybe will do a full detail battery usage when I have time).
Connectivity wise it come with NFC , wireless projection, wifi AC with new triple Antenna , Bluetooth 5.0 and AI Dual Frequency GPS (Allows to find location destination with tremendous accuracy)

-Conclusion:
Personally feel that Honor View 20 its worth the money as compare to a same premium processor phone as its almost half of the price. But if you are going for high end camera lens setup and wanted a higher request for vivid color display then maybe it’s a skip but if you are intending to get something new to try out and don’t mind the above, the honor view 20 will be one of the best choice. Its carries good battery life , amazing fast charging speed , smooth usage of the phone and stable gaming, its consider one of the main requirements everyone wants nowadays .

-Upcoming:
Theres also a Honor magic watch which release together, will try to get hold one soon if possible for a short review.
